Hi! I’m Evelyn Carmean, a sophomore at the University of Mississippi majoring in Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC). I’ve been drawn to multiple facets of journalism since I was young, and choosing this field has allowed me to pursue work that is both meaningful and genuinely enjoyable to me.

Throughout high school, I discovered my interest in this field by taking journalism classes such as literary magazine, broadcast, and photography where I learned how powerful images can be in shaping narratives and connecting people to real experiences. Those memories and classes helped me realize that photography isn’t just something I enjoy, it’s a way for me to express myself and share the world as I see it.

ABOUT

I was born and raised in Oxford Mississippi. I am currently 19 years old and a sophomore at the University of Mississippi. As an Integrated Marketing Communications major, I’m able to further develop my skills in writing, design and photography.

EXPIERENCE

I have worked at My Michelle’s here in Oxford as not only a catering assistant, but also their events photographer. I also enjoy snapping landscape, portrait, fashion, travel and wildlife photography.

WHY

I discovered my passion for photography through years of traveling with my family, always taking pictures to capture the small moments that made each trip feel special. Experiencing new places and cultures inspired me to look at the world more closely, paying attention to the details that often go unnoticed.
